About Charpentier du Monde

I'm Vincent Glathoud, a joiner and cabinetmaker based in Séez (Haute‑Tarentaise). I design, make and install bespoke wood projects — with one simple standard: clear quotes, a reliable timeline, and careful finishes.

My story

Charpentier du Monde started with a simple idea: do bespoke work properly — prepare well, build well, install cleanly. I work solo, so you deal directly with the craftsman from first call to installation.

My main work is joinery, fitted interiors and furniture. Traditional carpentry is possible depending on the project. My background (Compagnons du Devoir + a design chapter in Cape Town) shapes a technical and understated approach.

Key milestones

2008-2010

Training with the Compagnons du Devoir

I trained with the Compagnons du Devoir in the Rhône‑Alpes region: a school of rigour and precision.

2012-2015

International experience in South Africa

I moved to Cape Town (South Africa) and co‑founded Woodcraft with designer Andrew Dominic: an experience that sharpened my design sense alongside technical know‑how.

2015

Founding of Charpentier du Monde

I founded Charpentier du Monde, then settled in Séez at the heart of the Tarentaise valley, to work close to the resorts and the valley.

The Artisan

I built my expertise through a path spanning France and abroad, grounded in the Compagnons du Devoir tradition.

I work with species suited to mountain life (oak, larch, ash, Valchromat) and bring the same attention to detail from plan to finish.

My values

Three simple principles guide how I work: clarity, precision, and a clean result.

Technical rigour

I keep a consistent standard from preparation to final adjustments and installation.

Useful bespoke work

Every project starts from how you use the space. I propose simple, well‑sized solutions that fit your interior.

Durability

I choose materials and finishes that hold up over time, especially in mountain conditions.
